Heliopan VarioND Filter 2199 | 62 mm | SLIM | ND 0,3-1,8
This ND-VARIO Filter in brass capture with front thread allows you the stepless regulation of light intensity in a range of ND 0.3 to ND 1.8. This corresponds to a variable extension factor of 2x to 64x.
The ND-VARIO Filter allows you to use various effects and moods with different exposure times without taking a pocket full of gray filter. The filter is rotatable and consists like a pole filter of two filter foils taken in glass. Turning is changed the ND effect. The possibility of continuously changing the gray value opens up great creative possibilities in the film and photo area.
The high-quality Slim brass Filter frame without front thread used by Heliopan is provided with a scaling to achieve reproduction of the set gray values. This filter is not "overbuilt". You can use this filter on your lens with the lens hood.
Applications - Video / Film
The films with DSLR or mirrorless system cameras is becoming increasingly interesting. The use of luminous lenses and thus very low depth of field offers great creative possibilities. In sunny weather, however, you have even greater problems than taking pictures. The cameras choose the shutter speeds automatically as a function of the ambient light and the set aperture. However, this only happens in quite narrow areas (e.g., Canon EOS 5D Mark II - between 1/30 and 1/125 sec). They usually film with 24, 25 or 30 pictures in the second. The ideal shutter time is 1/50 or 1/60. Even if you can manually control the shutters of your camera, you should only work in the O.A. Time range. If you choose shorter times, the movies see later choppy or unnatural, unless you want to create a slow motion effect. With the ND-VARIO Filter you now have the option during the film, by the variable setting of the ND value to the desired combination of exposure time and aperture.
Applications - Photography
Do you use luminous lenses? - So in sunny weather, you often have the problem that at low ISO adjustment and very short shutter speed, work with open aperture (e.g., in portrait photography) is not possible. Here, the Variable ND Filter makes good services. The ND-VARIO Filter is also used to reduce the shutter speeds. With long shutter speeds you can e.g. let a water running look fluently, or by long-term exposure a motive of disturbing passers-by "free".
Application notes, restrictions:
- No full replacement for green filter from ND 1.2 upwards in combination with lenses with a focal length under 35mm
- Please note - Construction due to all Variable ND Filter two negative effects occur:
- Above 5 diaphragm levels, the manufacturers can not guarantee color neutrality of the Variable ND Filter .
- The reason for this is the weaker polarization of the pole foils for blue-violet light. Blue-violet light is no longer sufficiently attenuated in approximately crossed position of the pole filters, so that a blue violation color stitch results.
- Furthermore, with wide-angle lenses near the maximum position disturbing cross-shaped shades.
