Clear or Protection Filters can constantly remain in front of the lens because they are absolutely color neutral, highest transparency and extremely reflex. The optical signal enters uninflowed to the image sensor (or film). With the extremely clear and highly transparent protective filters, no extension factor must be taken into account. In digital photography, protective filters play a particularly important role. Larger depth of field due to small sensors reinforces the influence of a front lens pollution on the image quality. Especially with zoom lenses with a lower light intensity, for example, fingerprints affect much sharpening. Frequent cleaning of the front lens can not only leave scratch marks, but also transport dirt particles or moisture on the socket edge into the interior of the lens system.
