Heliopan Aluminium Lens Hood | large
The Heliopan Lens Hood is made of black anodized aluminum with one thread on the back and front of the aperture. This scattering light diagram is especially reckoned for lightweight wide-angle and normal objectives. These are objective with a (large image equivalent) focal length of 85 mm and more.
- Aluminum Lens Hood, black anodized
- same diameter on the lens and front side
- Special for objectives 85 mm and more focal length
- Blocks laterally incident light and ensures better image quality
- Removes light bumps and protects the lens front lens before rain
The primary function of a lens hood is to block light from getting to camera lenses from the sides. These sleeve-like accessories jut out and prevent unwanted light from striking the front elements of lenses, ensuring photos don't come out oversaturated. Hoods also protect lenses from smudges and scratches. They serve as a good substitute for lens caps when you're taking a break during shoots.
Completely made of aluminum - with front thread for attaching a filter
The scattering light diaphragm is completely made of aluminum. It offers a very robust design and it is precisely made. The inside is matted. In addition, the aperture has a front thread (same thread diameter such as the lens thread) for attaching a filter or a lens cover.
When to Use a Lens Hood
Use a lens hood when shooting a subject that's backlit by a strong source of light. Shooting with the backdrop of a sunset is a good time to use a hood to cut down on glare. Hoods are also necessary when using off-camera flash in the studio. Flash units placed to the side may introduce unwanted glare. Shooting at night also requires protecting camera lenses from harsh, stark light coming from cars, buildings, and street lamps.
