Elastic Lens Hoods are foldable and consist of an elastic special rubber mixture (UV-light-resistant and temperature-independent), which are unsolvable on the metal ring. The normally unprotected front lens of the lens is very much exposed to the scattering effect of the light, which usually remains invisible to the eye, but has a contrasting influence on the color saturation and brilliance in the picture. On the other hand, a Lens Hood does not only protect against incident side or backlit, but also before occurring light reflections, as well as unwanted rain or other negative influences.

It should be noted that the use of a lens hood always corresponds to the respective focal length of the objective. A too narrow Lens Hood is e.g. always lead to disturbing shades on the pictures when used on wide-angle and vario lenses.

Elastic Lens Hoods are converted to the edges and thus useful for wide-angle lenses. This is a special advantage over the usual lens diagrams.

Basically, the same screw-in thread is also located on the front, as at the back.
