B + W filter ND 1.8 MRC nano MASTER
This gray filter reduces the light by six f-stops, according to a filter factor 64. To succeed the one hand, already long-term effects, on the other hand, it may as a universal gray filter in digital photography are considered. White balance filter ensures optimum color neutrality. Tip: For longer exposure times tripod not forget!
Gray filters - creative with less light
Gray filters or neutral density (ND) filters are used if too much light restricts creative possibilities. They reduce the light according to their density. They allow longer exposure times or more open apertures. The applications are varied and sometimes experimental. With very bright subjects in the snow or on the beach, despite the fastest shutter speed and aperture should be closed. Thus the option of short depth of field would be lost, such as for portraits. To wipe effects in movements gray filter, if the exposure time can be extended if desired aperture. So a waterfall not appear more "frozen", but as a flowing motion. Sophisticated effects to achieve neutral density filter in architecture or urban photography. For long exposure times of several hours, people are running through the image blurred or no longer played.
The B + W Gray Filter MASTER
The basis for the ND filter glasses an excellent finely ground and polished special glass is used. This guarantees the necessary optical quality that does not adversely affect a correspondingly high-quality lens. The ND filter effect is achieved by tempering the glass surfaces. Here, homogeneity is important because only runs the light attenuation over the entire visible range evenly and provides optimal true color results. In this manufacturing technology, a coating combination guarantees optimal filter glasses and provides next to the filter effect with an antireflection system (7 layers per filter side) for reducing disturbing reflections.
In the developed thin film technology here is not only the pure ND-filter effect comes into play, but a 3-fold coating combination optimizes the ND filter. In addition to the filtering effect of the combination compensation to avoid interfering reflections contains a multilayer anti-reflective component with 7 layers per side of the filter. Finally, a nanosealing with dirt and water repellent properties is applied. This layer has scratch resistant properties and protects all around the surface filter. It also allows for easy cleaning and maintenance of the filter disc. The light attenuation itself is very evenly over the entire visible range and yields optimally neutral color results.

B + W | MASTER filter mount
The MASTER filter mount has a high mechnische stability at still very low overall height. It can be used on the most popular wide-angle lenses without vignetting. Exact details regarding focal length and angle limit are not possible yet because vignetting depends not only on the filter height and the angle of view, but also from the Tubuskonstruktion the lens. As a guide for safe use of vignetting 24x36 mm lenses can mm with a focal length from 17 and APS-C lenses from 10 mm (about 63 ° diagonal angle of view) in full-frame. Despite the low overall height more filters, snap cap or sun visor and can easily be securely fastened to the front thread. The filters of the MASTER line are characterized by a newly designed rotating ring with optimized design for better grip. All versions of the B + W MASTER Line filter are precisely made of brass. Brass is known for its dimensional stability and robustness. By a specific functional coat smooth screwing and unscrewing of the filter is guaranteed. The filter glass is play and tension in the brass mount and thus optimally exactly plane, which highest imaging performance guarantees. The filter mount is hard chrome plated matt black. This prevents the possible effects of reflections on the socket. Another advantage of the master's socket: The filter glass is no longer fixed from the front, but from behind with a screw-in ring. This can not loosen up with too tightly screwed up additional filters or sun visors of screwing while unscrewing.
B + W | MRC nano coating
An essential criterion for an excellent filter is the coating. Quality starts in front of the lens, and there is known to be the filter. A filter must not restrict the performance of an optics. MRC (Multi Resistant Coating) - Remote Filters have on both sides a multicoating layer (7 + 1 each), which ensures maximum anti-reflection and thus eliminate disturbing stray light. This allows brilliant colors and higher contrasts to be achieved. Due to the low residual reflection (0.5%), MRC reliably avoids ghost or double images that can be caused by back reflection from the image sensor. In addition, MRC protects the filter from scratches due to increased layer hardness and thus preserves the high optical quality. In addition, MRC is dirt and water repellent. Cleaning gets easier. In MRC Nano, the outer layer was reinforced in effect. The property based on nanotechnology (lotus effect) achieves a better apromination of water. So the cleaning of the filter surface succeeds even easier and faster. The hydrophobic surface reduces the fog fitting. At transition from cold in warm environment, the fitting detaches within a short time from the filter glass surface.
