This Heliopan Neutral Density filter reducing around 6,66 aperture levels is already considered extreme filter in pictorial photography. Thus, without changing the aperture (and depth of field) from 1/60 s a 1/4 second exposure time, which requires a tripod. Due to higher transmission in red from 660 nm, a lightwseven warm tone results in color recordings. If it disturbs, a UV / IR interference lock filter (Heliopan Filter 8025) brings in front of the green filter (not behind it!) Remedy.
Applications of Neutral Density / ND Filter
The Neutral Density / ND Filters find their use in photography and filming. In order to hold the flow movement of water, long shutter speeds must be worked, for this application, Neutral Density Filter with a medium starch (ND 1.8) are the perfect tool. Strong Neutral Density Filters are used in architectural recordings. Through extremely long shutter speeds, you can disappear disturbing "people". In portrait photography you would like to take pictures with an open aperture to use the low depth of field and the soft bokeh for image design. For bright lighting conditions, you also use Neutral Density Filter to work with open aperture. However, the strength of the effect depends on the focal length of the objective in this application. When movies you should use a Neutral Density / ND Filter to film with a longer shutter speed. A longer shutter speed helps to a higher motion blur. The greatest benefits offer Neutral Density / ND Filters when it comes to shots in bright ambient light, because bright light requires very short shutter speeds, this means a low motion blur. Neutral Density / ND Filters are also recommended when shooting with a drone camera. With too bright ambient light, there can be problems with the exposure control and thus the shutter speeds, a Neutral Density Filter reduces the light optimally here. Longer shutter speeds also reduce the rolling lining effect. Through a longer shutter speed, the rotors of the photo drone blur so far that they are no longer visible.
Made in Germany
The high-quality Heliopan Neutral Density Filter are made in Munich, offer first-class optical properties and a high-quality manufacturing quality. For the production of Heliopan ND Filters, SCHOTT glasses are used. The SCHOTT Filter glasses ensure perfect sharpness and thanks to spectrally balanced damping neutral color reproduction. The Filter glass is fully sanded and smoothly polished.
Heliopan SLIM Filter
The Filter fittings are made precisely from brass. Brass is dimensionally stable and robust. The brass capture causes no quality-reducing mechanical stresses in the Filter glass because of its very low thermal expansion even with strong temperature fluctuations. Further, the risk of jamming in the Filter thread of the lens is minimized. The black coating of the brass capture prevents possible influences by reflections on the socket. Thanks to a Filter hseven of 4 mm, the Filter can also be used on wide-angle lenses without causing vignets. For a camera with full-former sensor, the smallest possible focal length is approx. 24 mm, with a camera with APS-C sensor, it is about 18 mm. All Heliopan Slim brass captures have a front thread in the same size of the screw-in detection (of the Filter diameter), so that another Filter, a lens hood or other accessories can be screwed. By using state-of-the-art high-tech machines, both in metalworking as well as in the optics, the highest quality is guaranteed
Attention: Neutral Density Filter must not be used for direct visual sun observation (blinding hazard). They allow the UV and IR radiation harmful to the eye.
